K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 26th of January, visited the construction site of the new Secretariat.

On the 72nd Republic Day, Mr. Rao visited the site and held a meeting with the officials.

KCR during the meeting instructed authorities and the contract agency to complete the construction works before the deadline.

According to the sources, Mr. Rao was accompanied by Roads and Buildings Minister V. Prashant Reddy.

This is the first time after laying the foundation stone, Mr. Rao visited the site.

The last time KCR visited the Secretariat campus was on the 27th of June 2019 to lay the foundation stone.

K. Chandrashekar Rao was satisfied with the fast pace of the work. He expects the construction of the new Secretariat to be completed by July 2021. He also made suggestions to overcome hurdles in transporting construction material from different parts in India.

The CM also enquired with the officials about the requirement of the Government support for the speedy completion of the work.

Earlier, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government had set the deadline before Dasara (October) 2021.

However, after the contract agency assured its readiness to complete the work at the earliest, KCR is expecting the new Secretariat to be finished by July 2021.

In October 2020, Shapoorji Pallonji agency bagged the construction of the new Secretariat with the lowest bidding.

The construction of the complex is being done in a built up area of six lakh square feet at an estimated cost of over Rs. 600 crores.

Stay tuned for further updates.
