K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) Minister and the Information Technology (IT,) Electronics and Communications Minister of Telangana, conducted a meeting with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials.

The meeting was scheduled on the 19th of December at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad.  During the meeting, KTR directed the GHMC officials to construct slip roads to have better roadways and ease traffic congestion in Hyderabad.

As of now, the GHMC officials identified  55 roads where they could construct a slip road.  Out of the 55 roads, the detailed Road Development Plans (RDPs) for 40 are said to be ready. 

According to sources, the GHMC would soon begin the construction work after acquiring 90 properties near the roads.  They would acquire the land so they can start the first phase of constructing slip roads. 

Speaking about the necessity to construct slip roads, KTR said high traffic and better road network are a few major reasons for the construction of the slip roads.  It would help the Telangana Government provide better roadways and would reduce the traffic in the City.

The construction is expected to be taken up under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) and the Comprehensive Road Maintenance (CRM.)

Besides, K.T. Rama Rao also directed the zonal commissioners of Telangana to construct a 10 km pavement in all the zones in Hyderabad.

KTR asked the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the GHMC to coordinate and work together for the development of Hyderabad’s roads. 

The meeting was attended by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Arvind Kumar, the Principal Secretary of MA and UD, Lokesh Kumar, the Commissioner of the GHMC and other officials.
