As to prevent false informationa and keep the citizens updated about the ongoing situation, K.T. Rama Rao, A Cabinet Minsiter of Telangana, on the 6th of April launched Chatbot titled as “TS Gov Covid Info.”
The WhatsApp chatbot was launched with number 9000 658 658 which would be used to inform citizens about the government’s actions, information and prevention on COVID-19.
KTR, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, said, “Telangana government makes every effort to fight coronavirus. Uses all platforms. Telangana Government has designed this specific chatbot with the courtesy of WhatsApp, with the aim of providing authentic information to the citizens on the corona pandemic. People should be at home respecting the lockdown. Rely on the information released by the official media.”
The chatbot was jointly developed by Telangana IT Department and Medical Health Department in collaboration with Hyderabad-based software company named S.B. Technologies and WhatsApp’s official business solutions partner, Messenger People.
Jayesh Ranjan, the Chief Secretary of the Telangana IT Department, said, “Citizens have any questions or concerns regarding COVID-19, which can be resolved through WhatsApp. To start a chatbot conversation, + 91-9000658658 should send a message on WhatsApp to ‘Hi Hi’ or ‘Hello’ or ‘Covid’. Or click the https://wa.me/919000658658?text=Hi link from their mobile.” He further added, “We would like to thank Facebook, WhatsApp and their technical and business partners for their support to the government in critical situations.”
