K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) responded back to Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Working President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Mr. Rao hit back at the AIMIM Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) over his remarks against the former Prime Minister V. Narasimha Rao and former Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh (when Telangana was a part of Andhra Pradesh) N.T. Rama Rao.
During a public rally and campaigning for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, Akbaruddin Owaisi termed memorials of the two leaders encroachments on Hussain Sagar. He said these two statues are illegal construction and demanded the TRS Government to remove them.
Mr. Akbaruddin said the Hussain Sagar lake at Tank Bund was shrunk to 700 acres at present from the original 4,700 acres due to the encroachments of the two former Telugu leaders V. Narasimha Rao and NTR.
In regard to this derogatory comments, KTR lashed out at Akbaruddin Owaisi through a tweet.
Taking to his Twitter handle, KTR said both P.V. Narasimha Rao and N.T. Rama Rao were the pride of Telugu people. He said, “We strongly condemn these remarks. Any derogatory remarks to belittle the contribution of these two leaders are dishonourable and have no place in a democracy.”
The AIMIM party is contesting in 51 divisions out of 150 in the ensuing GHMC election unlike for 60 seats in 2016. In 2016, it won 44 divisions out of the 60 divisions it contested.
The GHMC elections for 150 wards would be held on the 1st of December and the results for the same would be announced on the 4th of December.
