Martyred Colonel Santosh Babu’s wife Santoshi has been appointed as commercial tax officer in Telangana. State chief secretary Somesh Kumar issued the orders Monday night.
Ms. Santoshi has to report to the commissioner of the concerned department within 30 days. The State Government has also provided her an opportunity to choose the post of her choice. It is already known that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has visited the Colonel’s residence in Suryapet on Monday. He paid floral tributes to the martyred army officer and enquired about the well-being of his children. He then handed over the financial package to the family.
The CM gave away Rs 4 crore cheque, an appointment order of a group 1 post and the papers of 711 square yards of land near KBR Park in Banjara Hills to Santoshi. He also handed over Rs 1 crore cheque to the Santosh Babu’s parents.
Colonel Santosh Babu who was the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar infantry battalion of the India Army was dead in a skirmish with Chinese troops at Galwan valley on the night of June 15.
