In the Munugode Assembly constituency, voting for the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat started at 7:00 A.M., on the 3rd of November, Thursday.

Candidates of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) are among 127 candidates, in the fray to secure the MLA seat.  Approximately 2.40 lakh voters would decide the fate of the candidates.  Furthermore, of all candidates, a tough fight is said to be between the candidates of the TRS, the BJP and the INC.  Of the total voters, 1,21, 672 are men and 1,20,126 are women, who would cast their votes in the Munugode by election.

Notably, from the TRS, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy is contesting the Munugode by election, from the BJP, the former INC leader and MLA of Munugode Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy is in the fray and from the INC Ms. Palvai Sravanthi is contesting.  The Munugode constituency MLA seat fell vacant after the exit of Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy from the INC.  He quit INC and resigned as the Munugode Constituency MLA, following which Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy joined the BJP.  Now he is contesting for the Munugode Assembly seat on the BJP ticket.

Meanwhile, for the smooth conduct of the by election, the Election Commission of India (ECI) made elaborate arrangements, including security, 298 polling stations.  In addition, 2,000 police personnel of the Rachakonda Police, along with six companies of Central Armed Police.  Furthermore, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF,) the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have also been deployed at the polling stations.

In addition, the mobile striking force, special striking force, special surveillance teams and flying squads are also participating in the election duties.

As of now, the Munugode by poll has recorded a voter turnout of 11.20% and the voting for the Munugode MLA seat would continue till 6:00 P.M.

Meanwhile, the results of the Munugode by election would be announced on the 6th of November.
