The outpatient staff working at the Nizam’s Institute Medical Science (NIMS) staged a protest against the administration on the 9th of July.

In regard to this, the NIMS had to suspend its outpatient services as patients are queueing outside the hospital.

The staff of various departments staged a protest demanding a hike in salaries amid the Novel Coronavirus situation.

According to the outpatient staff, despite approving a hike in salaries, the authority did not give an increased salary.

An outpatient staff protesting against the management said, “We brought the issue to the notice of the management several times, but there was no response.”

In another such complaint, the outpatient staff said, instead of increasing their salaries as per approval last year, the management deducted salaries to half, for the staff who were infected by the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

They said some of the staff working in the isolation wards contracted with the virus and were put under home quarantine with half salaries.

In addition, the outpatient staff also demanded an incentive of 10% announced for all front line workers of the Novel Coronavirus like medical staff, doctors and police.

Recently, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced an incentive of 10% to COVID-19 fighters in Telangana.

Meanwhile, Telangana is reporting a surge in the cases of the Novel Coronavirus cases in the past few days.

Till the 9th of July, the State recorded a total of 29,536 cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Of the total, 11,933 are active cases, 17,279 are recovered/discharged cases and 324 deceased.
