On the 19th of March, the Indian National Congress (INC) nominated Subhash Reddy as the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) candidate of the Nizamabad constituency for the by-election.
Uttam Kumar Reddy, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC,) announced the MLC candidate on the last date of filing nomination, the 19th of March. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its candidates name on the 18th of March.
The position of the Nizamabad MLC fell vacant after the then Council Chairman, Swamy Goud disqualified Bhupati Reddy. Bhupati Reddy, the former Nizamabad MLC was disqualified for switching his loyalties to the Indian National Congress (INC) before the 2018 Assembly elections of Telangana. Mr. Reddy was elected unanimously in 2015 as the Nizamabad MLC.
The MLC election of the Nizamabad constituency is scheduled to be held on the 7th of April, whereas results would be announced on the 9th of April.
