After the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees, Ola and Uber cab drivers, taxi drivers of IT companies and others are also planning to go on an indefinite strike.

Shaik Salauddin, the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Taxi Drivers, said approximately 50,000 cabs will take part in the strike.  The indefinite cab strike will begin from the 19th of October.

The reason behind calling for the strike is the Government not fulfilling the drivers’ long standing demands like the implementation of a meter system and fixing the cab fare at Rs. 22 per km.

Mr. Salauddin said the drivers forwarded a list of demands earlier to the Transport Department of Telangana and Ola, Uber and IT companies.  However, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) did not consider their demands and now, the drivers decided to go on a strike.

As of now, the TSRTC employees are continuing the strike which started on the 5th of October, against the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS for not fulfilling their demands.

The taxi drivers will begin the strike from 12:00 A.M., on the 19th of October.

Stay tuned for further updates.
