Osmania University Hostels To Open From 21st February

After a long span of closure, hostels and mess facilities at the Osmania University are all set to reopen.

The hostel and mess of the Hyderabad based Osmania University would start from the 21st of February.

Earlier, the university decided to reopen the hostels on the 16th of February, but the decision was deferred.

The hostels were closed from Mid march last year due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 induced lockdown.

According to sources, all students are now could join the hostels before submitting with a self-declaration along with COVID-19 negative test report.

They should also produce an undertaking agreeing that they will abide by all standard operating procedures related to Covid-19 and that the university authorities are not responsible in case any boarder contracts the virus.

Students who are scholarship holders will be allowed into the hostels on a minimum payment of Rs. 250 per person as renewal fees. The principals were asked to collect Rs. 5,000 for non-scholarship students excluding Rs. 250 renewal fee per person.

Meanwhile, the State is having a low number of active Coronavirus cases with a recovery rate more than 98 %.

In addition, the COVID-19 vaccination drive is also underway in the State.

The vaccination drive which started from the 16th of January is in the second phase and giving COVID-19 doses to police personnel.

With this, Telangana has 2,97,435. Positive cases, of which 2,94,097 are recovered/discharged cases, 1,623 deceased cases and below 2,000 active cases.
