On the 23rd of November, Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, presented the prestigious Mahavir Chakra Posthumously gallantry award to Colonel Santosh Babu.
The award was received by Santosh Babu’s wife Ms. Santoshi at Defence Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
Late Santosh Babu was awarded the gallantry medal for resisting the Chinese Army attack while establishing an observation post in the Galwan valley in the Ladakh sector during Operation Snow Leopard in July 2020.
It is to be noted, the Indian Army Soldier Santosh Babu was one of those who were martyred in the Indo-China clash in July 2020. Twenty soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred while fighting the Chinese troops at Actual Line Of Control (LAC) in Ladakh.
Meanwhile, besides Colonel Santosh Babu, Mr. Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren, Mr. Havildar K Palani, Me. Naik Deepak Singh, Mr. Sepoy Gurtej Singh would also receive Vir Chakras posthumously for their bravery against the Chinese Army in the Galwan Valley in under the Operation Snow Leopard.
