On the 29th of April, Friday, the Supreme Court (SC,) ordered the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to pay arrears on the Telugu Akademi bifurcation issue.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court asked the Telangana Government to pay an amount of Rs. 92.94 crore arrears and Rs. 2.6 crore interest, making the tally to Rs. 95 crore. The amount has to be paid to the Andhra Pradesh Government under the 2014 Bifurcation Act, for the Telugu Akademi.
As per sources, the amount should be paid within a week, from the 29th of April.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Telugu and Sanskrit Akademi Chairperson Ms. Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi expressed happiness over the SC decision. She addressed the media and said, “am expecting that the remaining departments of AP will receive bifurcation dues from Telangana just like AP Telugu and Sanskrit Akademi received.”
