Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been extended in Bhainsa, Telangana.
The curfew like situation, restricting any kind of gathering outside would now be in effect till the 20th of March. Approximately 600 police personnel are on duty ensuring that everyone is abiding by the imposed Section 144.
Section 144 was imposed on the 7th of March, after a clash broke out in the region. The incident took place at Zulfiqar Mosque in the town at around 8:45 P.M. According to the sources, two groups of miscreants indulged in violence following an argument over a bike.
Soon, stone pelting and fighting started. One of the groups even set the bike on fire, which led to more violence. Approximately three houses and at least four two wheelers were burnt by unidentified miscreants. Besides this, they also damaged paan shops and other small establishments.
To control the situation, the District’s In Charge and Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier, imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC.)
This time the extension came with a few relaxations. The Nirmal District Collector Mushraff Ali Faruqui allowed people to venture out from 7:00 A.M., till 1:00 P.M. However, internet restriction is still in effect in the town. The internet was suspended to prevent the spread on social media platforms, of the clashes between two groups over a vehicle.
On the other hand, the police registered cases against 24 people and arrested 32 people related to the incident.
The Bhainsa Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishnu Warrier appealed to the people to cooperate with the police during the curfew. The police identified 74 persons who were involved in the incident and launched efforts to trace 42 persons who are absconding.
To move ahead with the investigation, the police also formed six special teams.
The investigation is underway.
