On the 25th of February, V. Hanumantha Rao, a senior leader of the Indian National Congress (INC,) complained of getting threatening calls.
The Senior INC Leader of Telangana Mr. Rao blamed another INC leader Revanth Reddy behind these threat calls.
V. Hanumantha Rao said, “I have been receiving threatening calls from the time when I ideologically opposed Revanth Reddy being appointed as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president.” He further said, “I opposed the decision of making Revanth Reddy the TPCC President because there are some pending cases against Revanth Reddy and by appointing him the TPCC president, it would affect the reputation of the (INC) Congress Party. But because I opposed Revanth Reddy, I have been receiving threatening calls from unknown numbers and they have been using abusive and unpardonable language against me.”
Mr. Rao filed a police case regarding the same with the Cyberabad Police. He even wrote to the Director General of Police (DGP) about this issue.
Disappointed with such calls, Mr. Rao said, “I have written letters regarding this to the current TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. They said that a core committee meeting will be called upon to discuss this issue, but the party leaders have not paid any attention to this matter yet.”
During his interview to the media, Mr. Hanumantha Rao showed confidence that it is Revanth Reddy. He said, “Whenever I receive a threatening call, the first thing that the caller asks me is, ‘why am I opposing Revanth Reddy’. This clearly signifies that it is because of him that I’m receiving these calls. If at all, his followers are calling me and abusing me, then why isn’t he stopping them or atleast asking them not to do so?”
Condemning such acts, Mr. Hanumantha Rao said these things never happened with him. He was respected by all leaders of the Indian National Congress, but new leaders joining INC are different
It should be noted that this is not the first time Mr. Hanumantha received threat calls. In December 2020 also, Mr. Rao got several threatening calls for opposing Revanth Reddy as the TPCC President.
Mr. Rao concluded his press meet with his statement regarding INC. He said, he has been a part of the INC for a long time now and wishes to serve the Party till his last breath.
As of now, the Cyberabad Police registered a case under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and is investigating the matter.
