TDP Leader Puli Swamy Murdered In Telangana, Land Dispute Suspected As Reason

In Hyderabad, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Puli Swamy was murdered on the morning of the 28th of January.

According to the sources, Mr. Swamy, 53 year old leader of the TDP in Telangana was attacked by unknown goons with an axe.

The incident took place in the district headquarters town of Jangaon, when Mr. Swamy was out jogging.

The District Police said Puli Swamy, 53, a former councillor of Jangaon Municipality, was attacked by two men wielding axes while he was on a morning walk near Social Welfare Residential School on the Hyderabad-Warangal Highway.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinod Kumar said the assailants fled after abandoning their motorcycle at the spot as it apparently failed to restart.

The police were informed about the incident by a local. Some passersby alerted them and said a body was lying in a pool of blood near the school.

According to the initial investigation, personal rivalry over a land dispute is said be the reason behind the murder.

The assumption of the old land dispute rivalry was based on a recent judgement of a local court in a land dispute case. The judgment was in favour of Mr. Puli Swamy.

The ACP started the investigation and his team are trying to trace the vehicle owner.

Jangaon police lodged a case of murder and sent the body for autopsy to the Government District Hospital in the town.
