In a tragic incident, three railway workers were killed after a speeding train hit them while they were working on the railway tracks.
The horrifying incident occurred on the 20th of September, Tuesday, at the Kothapalli Railway Station, near Peddapalli Mandal, Telangana.
According to the police reports, the deceased were identified as Durgaiah (railway worker) and two contract workers, Pegada Ramesh and Venu. A speeding Rajadhani express train heading towards Delhi from Bangalore, hit them while they were applying grease to tracks, resulting in death the on spot. The incident happened at 4:00 P.M., when a goods train was also passing, due to which the three workers failed to hear the siren of the train coming towards them at speed.
The relatives of the deceased people are demanding to provide Rs.50,00,000 ex gratia to the families. The relatives also demanded action against the junior engineer (JE) who was not at the workplace when the incident took place.
Moreover, the Railway Police informed the Peddapalli Police about the incident, which later registered a case under Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) of unnatural death.
