Telangana Advocate Couple Murder Case: Police Arrests One More Suspect, Investigation Underway

On the 19th of February, another person was arrested in connection with the murder of advocate couple, Gattu Vamana Rao and his wife P.V. Nagamani.

Initial investigations revealed that Bittu Srinu who was also involved in the murder is said to have supplied sickles in the killing of the couple two days ago.

The accused was taken into custody at his house in Manthani by a special police team led by Godarvarikhani ACP Umender.

The arrested was shifted to Ramangundam police commissionerate for questioning. Bittu Srinu was arrested based on the information given by Kunta Srinivas, Chiranjeevi and A kumar.

They said that Srinu has helped them in providing sickles that were used in murdering the lawyer couple. The sickles were brought by Srinu from a fruit shop in Mathani. Bittu Srinu who is the chairman of Putta Lingamma Charitable Trust is the nephew of Peddapalli Zilla Parishad Chairman Putta Madhukar. The trust is being run by Madhukar in the name of his mother.

On the 17th of February, a shocking murder was reported in Telangana’s Peddapalli district.

In the broad daylight, a few unidentified people murdered an advocate couple.

Identified as Advocate Gattu Vamana Rao and his wife Gattu Nagamani, the couple were stabbed to death. They were coming back from a local court in Manthani and on their way to Hyderabad, the incident took place.

According to sources, near Kalwacheral in Ramagiri mandal, a few unidentified people stabbed both the husband and wife.

Soon, a video of the incident went viral all over social media platforms.

In the video Vamana Rao (53) was lying in a pool of blood on the road while vehicles were seen passing by and his wife Nagamani (50) was lying badly injured in the car.

Eye witnesses of the incident called the police and they were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they died during treatment. According to a few witnesses, Kunta Srinivas, a local leader of theTelangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is said to be involved in the murder case.

Meanwhile, Y. Nagi Reddy, the Inspector General of North Zone Police on the 19th of February, addressed a press conference and briefed about the developments.  Mr. Reddy said the police gathered crucial evidence against the assailants and investigated the matter.  

Y. Nagi Reddy said Srinivas allegedly conspired to eliminate the lawyer couple and accordingly he planned the murder.   Kunta Srinivas is said to be main suspect and prime accuse in the murder. 

The Police are likely to take the three accused into custody for further questioning and investigation.
