The Telugu State of Telangana has a total of 30 cases of Delta Plus variant of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
On the 10th of September, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and informed that since May 2021, a total of 30 Delta Plus cases are registered in Telangana.
It is to be noted, in the second phase of the Novel Coronavirus, the majority of cases were of the Delta variant. Now, the State has started witnessing the Delta Plus variant, which is deadly and 70 % more dangerous than the original Wuhan virus (COVID-19.)
Speaking about the 30 Delta Plus variant patients, the patients are from different districts of Telangana with majority from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao, the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare of Telangana, said, “While we are seeing cases of Delta Plus variant, it is not a cause of concern. Patients have recovered and are doing fine. The rate of infection and symptoms of this sub-lineage is the same as the Delta variant.” He further said, “There must be no let up in Covid-appropriate behaviour and all should get vaccinated at the earliest.”
The situation of the rise in the Delta Plus variant cases became a matter of concern for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) led Telangana Government and the Health Department. The State Government urged people to maintain COVID-19 appropriate behavior and asked the concerned officials to be prepared for the possible third wave of the Wuhan virus.
Meanwhile, currently, the situation of COVID-19 in Telangana is under control with only 5,351 active cases.
