The Telangana Police deployed police personnel across Telangana State to avoid any kind of violence and attacks during the Telangana bandh.

On the 19th of October, along with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees, taxi drivers working for Ola, Uber and IT companies also called for a strike.

Approximately 50,000 drivers across Telangana went on strike against the TRS Government.  The reason behind the strike is their long standing demands, including a fixed rate of Rs. 22 per km and a meter system.

The Police arrested a few people and buses in Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Bodhan, Adilabad and Nalgonda which were confined to depots, due to the bandh.

Opposition parties like the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and others extended their support to the TSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) and taxi drivers on strike.

In the wake of the protest, not a single bus moved out of the depots across the State.

The TSRTC employees’ protest started on the 5th of October and the taxi drivers’ protest started on the 19th of October.  Both the strikes are expected to continue until the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government agrees to the demands of the TSRTC employees and taxi drivers.

Stay tuned for further updates.
