Palle Thirupati Reddy, a constable in Telangana, on the 17th of August, was caught red handed for accepting a bribe of Rs. 17,000.
The incident came a day after Thirupati was given the ‘Best Constable’ award for his performance. V. Srinivas Goud, the Excise Minister of Telangana, gave the award to Thirupati.
Palle Thirupati Reddy is a constable in I-Town Police Station in Mahbubnagar.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB,) on the 17th of August, arrested Palle Thirupati Reddy with Rs. 17,000 cash in hand. According to sources, Thirupati allegedly given the bribe so he does not register a case against a businessman.
The arrest of Thirupati came after Ramesh, a sand businessman, filed a complaint against him for demanding money and harassing him. Ramesh said Thirupati was harassing him and asking for money from him for transporting sand, even when he had verified documents for transportation.
The ACB, with the help of Ramesh, made a plan and trapped Pelli Thirupati Reddy and arrested him while he was taking the money from Ramesh.
The ACB arrested Reddy and presented him before an ACB court. As of now, Reddy is in judicial custody.
