The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader assured of a separate Shia Wakf Board if voted into power for the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections.
On the 27th of January, Friday, Mr. Mir Firasat Ali Baqri said, like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the Telugu State of Telangana would also have a separate Shia Wakf Board, if voted into power. He pointed out that since 1963, Uttar Pradesh is functioning as a separate autonomous Shia Wakf Board, whereas, in Bihar, the autonomous board was constituted in 1989 and is functioning smoothly.
The BJP is also confident of securing a majority of seats and win the Telangana Assembly elections, scheduled in 2023. Mr. Mir Firasat Ali Baqri said they would win the elections and form a separate Shia Wakf Board for Muslims. He said, “The Supreme Court in its order in the year 2001 has given permission to the then Andhra Pradesh government to constitute a separate Shia Wakf Board, as it is having over 15 per cent of the share of Shias in the Wakf properties, which has not been implemented.”
Mr. Mir Firasat Ali Baqir also blamed the Telangana Government for the damage of Shia Wakf properties and dysfunctional institutes of minorities in the Telugu State of Telangana.
