Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, and Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, a leader of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had an argument during the Telangana Budget Session.
On the 2nd day of the Budget Session, the 4th of February, Saturday, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao and Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi argued over justice to Urdu. During the session, MLA Akbaruddin criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government for not providing adequate justice to Urdu, despite declaring it as a second official language. He also inquired about the status of the construction of the mosque in the Telangana Secretariat and the conditions at Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad.
During the State Budget Session, the AIMIM leader also raised questions about the lack of development in the Old City, despite the rapid progress in Hitech City. He also sought clarification on the completion date for the Charminar pedestrian project and the Hyderabad Metro project.
In addition, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi also accused Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, and State Cabinet Ministers of creating a hurdle for the development of people in the Old City.
Reacting to the allegations of the AIMIM leader, Minister KTR responded with a strong counter argument. He said, “It is not appropriate to speak without attending the BAC meeting.” He further added that the AIMIM, with only seven members, is taking up too much time to speak in the session and advised them to follow the designated timings and follow the rules in the house.
The Telangana Budget Session started on the 3rd of February, with the addressing of Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana. The duration of the Telangana Budget Session would be decided by the Board of Additional Committee (BAC) after a meeting.
