The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government conducted a Cabinet meeting on the 1st of August. The meeting was called to discuss several matters of Telangana and the Dalit Bandhu scheme.

The Cabinet meeting, which started at 2:00 P.M., at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad, was chaired by the Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao.

During the meeting, the Cabinet ministers and senior leaders, discussed the Dalit Bandhu scheme and gave a nod to the proposed welfare scheme. The cabinet also dicsussed the modalities prepared by the TRS Government, especially the financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh to the Dalit families in Telangana. The Dalit Bandhu scheme is likely to be implemented on the 16th of August.

In addition, the Cabinet also approved the second phase implementation of the Crop Loan Waiver Loan Scheme. The State Government would implement the second phase of the crop loan waiver worth Rs. 1 lakh.

In regard to this, The Telangana Government waived crop loans up to Rs. 50,000 to benefit nearly 6 lakh farmers across Telangana. The waived off amount would be released to the farmers between the 15th of August to the 31st of August.

In the first phase, the crop loans up to Rs. 25,000 were waived (in 2020.) The implementation of the crop loan waiver scheme would continue in four phases until 2023. In the third phase, crop loans up to Rs. 75,000 would be waived in 2022 and up to Rs. 1 lakh in 2023.

According to sources, crop loan waiver is one of the major promises of the TRS manifesto during the 2018 Assembly elections in Telangana.

The first phase of the crop loan waiver scheme was implemented in 2020, benefiting close to 2.9 lakh farmers. The loan waiver was for an amount worth Rs. 25,000, for which the KCR Government released a total of Rs. 408 crores.

Besides this, the TRS also discussed the possible third wave of the Wuhan virus, measures to control the spread of the virus, medical arrangements, ongoing vaccination drive and other issues during the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Sunday’s Cabinet meeting was attended by the TRS Ministers and senior officials.
