On the 6th of October, the Telangana Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Governor of Telangana Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan extended Bathukamma festival greetings to people.
The political leaders took to their official Twitter handle and greeted the people of Telangana on this auspicious occasion of Bathukamma.
The tweet posted by Ms. Tamilisai Soundararajan read, “I extend my heartiest wishes and warm greetings to all women of Telangana on the auspicious commencement of ‘Bathukamma celebrations. Bathukamma is a very special festival associated with mother nature and essentially is a celebration of life by women of Telangana. The colourful seasonal wildflowers used to prepare the idols of Bathukamma do have the medicinal properties to cleanse water bodies filled to the brim with copious rains during the season. Bathukamma marks the re-union of families and visit of daughters of the soil to celebrate the nine-day-long festival.”
Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao also took to his Twitter handle and said, “Bathukamma brought fame and name to Telangana all over the world.” He further said, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) made elaborate arrangements across the State to celebrate the festival.
Recently, the State Government also distributed 1 crore Bathukamma sarees to the women of State.
However, the TRS Government and Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao asked people to celebrate the festival following the guidelines of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus.
In addition, Tollywood celebrities like Megastar Chiranjeevi and other celebrities also extended Bathukamma greetings to the Telangana people.
Bathukamma marks the end of monsoon and the beginning of autumn and is primarily celebrated by women.
