The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) active cases in Telangana, came down to 7,000 from the previous 8,000 cases.
In the past 24 hours, the State witnessed a total of 417 new cases. Though the cases increased from the recent 245 single day spike, the active cases reduced to 6,939. Besides the new cases, Telangana reported 2 deaths and 569 recoveries from the deadly virus. Highlighting the recoveries, compared to previous below 500 recoveries in a day, Telangana reported a rise in recovery cases.
The figures of the COVID-19 infection were released through a media bulletin. On the evening of the 17th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.
With this, Telangana now has 6,53,202 positive cases, of which 7,268 are active cases, 6,42,416 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,847 are deceased.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 87,230 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.35 crores till date.
According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (84) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (54) and Rangareddy with 23 cases.
Meanwhile, with a slight fall in the COVID-19 cases, the active containment zones are at 19 from the previous 20 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.
The recovery rate of Telangana also improved to 98.34% from the previous 98.30 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic. In addition, a total of 1.62 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Telangana till date.
