In the early hours of the 3rd of February, a massive fire broke out at the newly constructed Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat Complex building.
According to sources, the incident occurred on the early hours of Friday, when a fire erupted from the top floors where the interiors are made of woodworks. The fire broke out at around 3:00 A.M. The fire was reported immediately when the workers present at the secretariat noticed the smoke.
On receiving the information, about 12 fire engines rushed to the spot and the fire department and police personnel took in charge. Fire officials said the fire was completely brought under control and no casualties were reported. Senior officials present at the spot said, “There are no casualties and no one is injured.”
Later, on the morning of the 3rd of February, Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy, the Fire Department Director General (DG) and other senior officials visited the spot and monitored the operation. After monitoring the situation, the Fire Department officials said, “Within four minutes, four brigades from the Secretariat and Assembly fire stations reached the spot. The operation lasted two hours. There is no damage to the building except for the blackening of walls due to thick smoke. Work was going on in certain areas but the cause of the fire is not clear.”
It is to be noted, the B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat Complex was slated for inauguration on the 17th of February.
