Amid soaring temperatures, as many as four people have died due to heat stroke in Telangana since Tuesday. The mercury levels in most districts is around 40 degress Celsius or more and officials have advised people to not step out of their homes during afternoon, between 11 am and 3 pm, unless it is an emergency.
Of the four deaths reported in the state, three were from the northern districts of Adilabad, Nirmal and Mancherial, while the fourth casualty was from Warangal in central Telangana.
Getting into the details, In Adilabad, a 70-year-old farmer, Salluri Lingaiah, died of the extreme heat while he was at his mango farm in Gangaram village of Nennel mandal.
In Nirmal district, 45-year-old Padigela Rajeshwar from Vadyal Narsapur village of Laxmanachanda mandal, who was involved in MGNREGS work, reportedly died of heat stroke while at work near a lake on Tuesday. Rajeshwar, who was physically challenged, had gone to work like he had been doing in the last few days when he complained of dizziness and went to rest under the shade of a tree. He was later found lying dead under the tree by other workers.
Meanwhile, in Mancherial, heat wave killed a 55-year-old fruit seller, Lingala Srinivas of Bellampalli town. He died while going about his work in the heat, his family said.
Another fruit seller, 67-year-old Mupparapu was found dead near Duggondi mandal headquarters in Warangal.
Meanwhile, Regional Met Centre (RMC), Hyderabad, has predicted partly cloudy skies in the city from Friday onwards with possibility of development of thunder lightning from April 15 to 17.  However, thunderstorm gives no relief as despite cloudy skies, the temperatures in the city are expected to stay high with the maximum temperature oscillating between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. As per the forecast, the maximum and minimum temperature in Hyderabad may drop one or two notches after April 17.
