On the 24th of June, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government sanctioned job vacancies for new medical colleges across the State.

On Thursday, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government approved 7,007 jobs at 7 new medical colleges.

The job posts include professors, doctors, technicians, pharmacists and other administrative posts. While 7,007 posts were allowed for youths of Telangana, the State Government also approved to fill up 2,135 posts for the seven medical colleges on outsourcing or contract basis on the 23rd of June.

Recently, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government approved the construction of medical colleges in Mahabubabad, Sangareddy, Jagtial, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem and Mancherial. With the completion of the construction of new medical colleges, Telangana would have 16 medical colleges across the State.

Initially, when Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was one State, it had 4 medical colleges. After bifurcation of the two Telugu states in 2014, the TRS Government constructed 5 new medical colleges, taking the tally to 9. In the latest development, the Government announced the construction of seven new medical colleges in the State, which would take the total number of government medical colleges to sixteen.

The 7 new medical colleges are likely to be completed by the end of 2022. The State Government would spend Rs. 700 crores to set up each medical college.

Accordingly, the Government has decided to sanction a total budget of Rs. 5,000 crores this year for the seven medical colleges.

The foundation stone of the construction of the new colleges would be laid by K.Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana in July 2021. However, an official date for the same is yet to be announced.
