Telangana Government Begins Ration Distribution To 3 Lakh Eligible Beneficiaries From Today

On the 26th of July, the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government distributed new ration cards in Telangana.

As per the promise of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, the State started the Ration card distribution from today, the 26th of July.

The distribution started from districts like Rangareddy, Nizamabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and others.

Niranjan Reddy, the Minister of Agriculture in Telangana conducted the Ration card distribution in the Wanaparthy district. During the event, Niranjan Reddy said, “The Government’s aim is to provide sufficient food to all the poor people. Also, Telangana is the only state to give fine rice on the ration cards.”

The new ration card distribution, which started from today, the 26th of July, would benefit crores of the underprivileged people of the State till now. This time, close to 3 lakh beneficiaries would get the new Ration cards. With this, the total number of ration cards would go up to 90.5 lakh in Telangana. The total number of beneficiaries would rise to 2.88 crore following the addition of 8.65 lakh more members.

Below is the district wise data of the new ration card distribution so far:

Hyderabad: 53,123

Rangareddy: 33,620

Medchal-Malkajgiri: 30,055

Nizamabad: 16,257

Bhadradri-Kothagudem: 12,574

Khammam: 12,111

Nalgonda: 11,395

While Nirajan Reddy distributed the cards in Wanaparthy, Telangana Minister Jagadish Reddy gave away the cards in Suryapet. In addition other Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) the Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) and other officials are carrying out the distribution work in mandals, villages and other towns of the State.

Gangula Kamalakar, the Civil Supplies Minister of Telangana is supervising the distribution of the ration cards in Telangana. He said, “This just another step towards achieving the objective set by chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that no one should go hungry in the new state of Telangana. The TRS Government will ensure that every eligible family gets the food security card and rice through fair price shops.”

Under the new ration cards, each card holder could take 6kg of rice at a subsidy price of Rs. 1 per kg. In order to benefit people, the Telangana Government is likely to spend an amount of Rs. 2,800 crores.

The distribution of the Ration cards would continue till the 31st of July, and the beneficiaries could avail the benefits from the 1st of August.
