The Telangana Government declared two days’ public holiday in the areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC.)
As per the Telangana Government orders, all private institutions, and government offices would remain shut on the 14th and the 15th of October.
The decision to declare a two day public holiday was taken after heavy rainfall in Telangana.
K. Chandrasekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, directed district officials to control the situation and set up relief camps.
Since the past two days, Telangana and areas under the GHMC limits witnessed heavy rainfall.
In the wake of the heavy rainfall, the State declared public holidays in the GHMC areas. Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, issued the orders regarding the same.
The Chief Secretary also advised the GHMC officials and district collectors to shift people living in low lying areas and inundated places to safer areas.
In addition, the Government also advised people not to come out if there is no urgent necessity.
Meanwhile, nearly 12 people died in Telangana in rain related incidents. Waterlogging on roads and inundation of some low lying areas were also witnessed. Of the few areas, Vanasthalipuram, Dammaiguda, Attapur Main Road and Musheerabad areas of Hyderabad are a few waterlogged areas due to incessant rainfall.
In addition, heavy rainfall is expected to continue for two more days, the 14th and the 15th of October in Telangana.
