The Telangana Government, on the 28th of July, said they finished 90 % demolition of the Telangana old Secretariat. 

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government began the demolition process from the 16th of July, after being approved by the Telangana High Court.

On the 15th of July, the Telangana High Court approved the demolition process of the old Secretariat.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) released an official statement, which read, “The Government has taken up demolition of the old buildings and removal of debris of the Old Secretariat to pave way for a new building complex. Ninety per cent of the demolition works are over. It is estimated that there would be 4500 Truck-loads of debris. So far 2,000 truckloads of debris was removed.”

Other works are going on. As a preventive measure, the government did not allow anyone into the premises, as there is a danger of accidents happening while demolishing the high-rise buildings. As part of this, media is also not allowed, it said.

However, after several requests the media representatives were given permission to report the demolition works.

A Telangana State minister said the City Police Commissioner will take the media around the secretariat premises for coverage. 

The demolition of the buildings had to be suspended for a few days following the court’s stay order which was lifted on the 17th of July.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is demolishing the old Secretariat complex to build a new Secretariat.

On the 7th of July, the Telangana Government began demolition of the old Secretariat building complex in Telangana.

After the Telangana HC approved the demolition, the K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) released the elevation design, following which the demolition began.

In 2019, KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, laid the foundation for the new Secretariat.

The new Secretariat is designed on wide land of about 4 lakh square feet. The total budget for the construction is expected to be of Rs. 400 crores including the State art and vaastu compliant design.
