The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, on the 19th of July, will implement the new Municipal Bill, which will then be passed as the Municipal Act.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 18th of July, introduced the Municipal Bill in the Assembly and gave a day to the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to scrutinise it.

The MLAs are expected to examine the bill and discuss it during the Assembly session, organised specifically for the implementation of the bill.

With the new Municipal Act, the TRS Government aims to resolve the problems faced by the people of Telangana in the urban and rural areas.

The reason to pass the bill is the upcoming Municipal elections, which are scheduled to be held in the first week of August.

The Municipal Act will also be sent to the vetting department for proper scrutinisation, according to the laws.

The State Municipal Act, 1919 will be amended by the Government by the evening of the 18th of July, following which, on the 19th of July, the MLAs will debate and approve the Bill.

KCR also said the number of municipalities would be increased to 142, a new municipal law would be introduced and a budget meeting would be held soon.

The reason to amend the Municipal Act is said to be the stronghold of the TRS in the municipalities of Telangana, whether it is the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) or the other departments.

The TRS Government, with the new Municipal Act, wants to sweep the majority of the seats in the upcoming Municipal elections.

The Election Commission (EC) announced, the Municipal elections of Telangana will be conducted anytime after the 15th of July, following which, it was decided the elections will be held in the first week of August.

The dates of the Municipal elections will officially be announced soon.
