The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government urged the Central Government for a special team of doctors for the upcoming Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccine drive.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, asked the Government of Indian to deploy vaccination experts in Telangana districts to ensure smooth run of the vaccination programme.

Mr. Rao is expected to propose the same to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in today’s video conference meeting.

The TRS Officials said that expert teams were required to address any emergency that may arise during administering the vaccine to the people.

Since the vaccination programme was taken up through the official CoWIN app, the Central Government should deploy teams at the ground level to address the hurdles encountered by the respective states.

The nation wide vaccination drive is scheduled to begin on the 16th of January. On the first day of the vaccination programme as many as 13,900 frontline warriors would be covered in 139 centres.

Nearly 2.9 lakh doctors, nurses and paramedical staff would be administered vaccines in the State.

Since all medical staff would get the first dose of vaccine, it requires additional doctors and experts to monitor the health condition of the vaccinated medical staff until they are administered a second dose of vaccine after 28 days.

Justifying the need of the experts, the State Government said though the State had successfully completed two rounds of dry run, it does not have the required number of experts who can study the impact of vaccines on persons.

Meanwhile, the State Government is scheduled to conduct a high level meeting regarding the Vaccination drive for the Novel Coronavirus.

The meeting is organised at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad, today afternoon.

All the district collectors and State ministers would participate in the meeting, chaired by KCR.

Stay tuned for further updates.
