The Telangana Government is aiming to vaccinate the entire population of Telangana against the deadly Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
On the 12th of October, Tuesday, Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, said, the Telangana Health Department is confident to administer COVID-19 vaccine to the entire population of Telangana, who are eligible to take the COVID-19 vaccine doses by November end. He said, “The State will achieve the target of 100 per cent Covid-19 vaccination of the population above 18 years in the next one month.”
It is to be noted, the Telangana Health Department is administering COVID-19 vaccine doses to 3 lakh to 4 lakh people on a regular basis. If the number of people receiving COVID-19 vaccine doses remain the same, the State could easily achieve the target of vaccinating the entire eligible population of Telangana with a single dose.
The statement and remarks regarding the Telangana vaccination drives were made during the inaugural event of the Mega Vaccination Centre in Khajaguda, Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, according to government sources, the Telangana Health Department so far administered 2.8 crore doses of the vaccine to the eligible people, of which a total of 2.02 crore people have taken the first dose and the remaining 60 lakh people took both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, as per the Telangana Chief Secretary, Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Telangana Government is expected to receive 1 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses this month (October.)
