The K. Chandrashekar Rao led Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) moved the Telangana High Court and filed a writ petition against the transfer of the Telangana MLA Poaching Case.

It is to be noted, recently, the single bench judge approved the transfer of the controversial cases of the poaching of the BRS Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI.)    Initially, the case was being investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT,) which has now been transferred to the CBI, calling the investigation unfair.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed the decision, the Telangana Police, the SIT and the ruling BRS Government opposed the decision.

Opposing the same, the BRS led Telangana Government said, “ India should not be hijacked from the course of free and fair elections by mob muscle methods, or subtle perversion of discretion by men.”  The petition further stated that “The accused approached the court at every stage and they were protected in all aspects. Moreover, when the investigation was handled by an independent agency, the SIT with independent officers of high rank, the court should not have come to the conclusion that the investigation was unfair.”

On the 29th of October, Mr. Pilot Rohit Reddy, a MLA of the BRS, exposed three people, who were said to be close aides of the BJP, of bribing the BRS MLAs.  Mr. Pilot Rohit Reddy filed a first information report (FIR) with the State Police and alleged the BJP was behind the poaching of MLAs.

Later, on the 3rd of November, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, released video evidence of the allegations of poaching of the MLAs and submitted the same to the State Police.  Soon, the Government of Telangana formed a SIT led by high ranking officials.

However, the BJP who denied the allegations of the BRS Government moved the Telangana High Court, demanding a CBI probe.  After the hearing, a single bench judge of the Telangana High Court dismissed the investigation and ordered for a fresh probe by the CBI.

As of now, the CBI is investigating the controversial case of the poaching of the BRS MLAs by the BJP, from scratch.
