The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government announced to conduct State Government’s Kanti Velugu Programme.

Implemented once again in the Telugu State of Telangana, the Kanti Velugu Scheme, provides free eye treatment and checkups for those suffering from any eye related issues. As part of the scheme, the government will distribute medicines along with spectacles to those suffering from eye problems. The scheme was first introduced in 2018 by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.  The scheme was implemented in Malkapur and Medak districts.

However, the scheme was dropped initially after 5 months with an investment of Rs. 106 crores.  Now, once again, the TRS Government announced the implementation of the Kanti Velugu programme, starting from the 18th of January 2023.   In regard to the implementation of the scheme, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao held a meeting with Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, Mr. T. Harish Rao, the Telangana Health Minister and other Cabinet ministers.

The Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) tweeted about it on the 17th of November, Thursday.  The tweet posted in Telugu said, “కంటి వెలుగు కార్యక్రమ అమలు తీరు తదితర ప్రజారోగ్యం, వైద్యం అంశాలపై వైద్య, ఆరోగ్య శాఖ మంత్రి శ్రీ @TRSHarish ఇతర శాఖల మంత్రులు, ప్రజాప్రతినిధులు, వైద్య శాఖ ఉన్నతాధికారులతో సీఎం ఉన్నత స్థాయి సమీక్ష నిర్వహిస్తున్నారు.”
