The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government in Telangana has called for a special Assembly session, to discuss the sanctions and policies of the Central Government.

Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, alleged that the sanctions imposed by the Centre have resulted in the reduction of over Rs. 40,000 crores in income for the Telugu State of Telangana in the financial year 2022-2023.

During this special Assembly session, scheduled to be held in December, the State Government officials, Cabinet ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) would discuss the policies, which did not benefit but failed the people of Telangana.

Giving a breakup of the “income losses” for the financial year 2022-2023, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, the Union Government has reduced the FRBM (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) promised limits, reducing the State’s ability to raise funds. He added, “From about ₹54,000 crores as indicated at the beginning of the financial year, they pruned it to ₹39,000 crores, causing a dent of ₹15,000 crores to the State’s plans to raise funds (sic.)”

KCR further said, “Besides, the States that are performing well are eligible to get an additional increase of 0.5% in the FRBM limit. But the Centre has linked it with power reforms, limiting the offer only to the States that implemented reforms in the power sector (sic.)”

It is to be noted since the TRS launched its own National Political party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) the bitter fight between the TRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified. Both political parties are eyeing the upcoming 2023 Telangana Assembly elections and the 2024 General Elections.

Meanwhile, the detailed information regarding the Telangana Special Assembly session including date, duration and other informatiom would be announced soon.
