The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 16th of October, reviewed a petition filed by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees.
The Telangana HC ordered the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to pay the September salaries of the 50,000 employees who are on strike, by the 21st of October.
The Telangana High Court also asked the K. Chandrashekar Rao led State Government to submit a brief report regarding the current situation and a solution for the same.
The TSRTC staff urged the State Government to fulfill their long standing demands, which includes the merging of the TSRTC with the State Government. On the other hand, the State Government, which is adamant about its decision, refused to accept the demands and sacked 1,200 employees and suspended 48,800 employees, along with declaring the strike illegal.
However, after the orders of the Telangana High Court, the TRS agreed to pay the salaries for the month of September.
As of now, after the intervention of a few senior leaders of the TRS like K. Keshav Reddy, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) and union leaders of the TSRTC are ready to negotiate and end the strike.
The TSRTC strike, which started on the 5th of October, entered its 11th day on the 16th of October and is expected to continue until the State Government initiates the mediation process.
