The Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) is all set to attend the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 patients in Telangana. 

Launched for the citizens of Telangana, the sports complex of TIMS turned COVID-19 hospital has 1,224 beds Including 1000 beds with oxygen facility and 50 beds with ventilators.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government recruited medical staff and doctors for the newly launched TIMS’ s COVID-19 hospital.

Situated in Gachibowli, TIMS would be available for patients and would be an addition in the already existing Coronavirus treatment centre for patients.

As of now the State run Gandhi hospital and 12 other State and Central Government approved hospitals and private labs of Telangana are allowed to test for Coronavirus infection and treat infected cases.

The decision to convert TIMS’s sports complex to COVID-19 treatment centre was taken by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.

The decision was taken due to the massive increase of the Coronavirus cases in the State.

Dr. Etela Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, who was reviewing the arrangements at TIMS, on the 6th of July, took to Twitter and announced the functioning of TIMS.

Mr. Rajender said, “TIMS is ready to serve #Covid-19 patients.”

Dr. Rajender also posted a video of the newly launched COVID-19 treatment centre with all the facilities needed to treat patients.

Meanwhile, Telangana reported a total of 23,902 cases of the Novel Coronavirus. Of the total, 10,904 are active cases, 12,703 are recovered/discharged cases and 295 deceased till the 6th of July.

The average growth rate of the Novel Coronavirus in Telangana is 8%, recovery rate increased to 53.15% and mortality rate is 1.23%.

Till the 6th of July, the State conducted a total of 1,15,835 sample tests for the Novel Coronavirus infection.
