Etela Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, on the 16th of August, called for a meeting with the Hospitals Association of Telangana.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 3:00 P.M., at the Secretariat of Telangana.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Health Ministry officials and members of the Hospitals Association will be present during the meeting.

Etela Rajender organised the meeting urgently after approximately 240 private hospitals refused to treat patients under the Aarogyasri scheme.  The hospitals refused to treat the patients as the TRS Government failed to pay an outstanding amount of Rs. 1,500 crores, due to which, the hospitals are now facing financial issues.

V. Rakesh, the President of the Hospitals Association, requested the Aarogyasri beneficiaries to understand the situation and cooperate with them until the matter is resolved.

Dr. Rakesh also urged the K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) led TRS to clear the amount on priority basis so that the hospitals can treat the patients as early as possible.

The TRS Government launched the Aarogyasri scheme to provide health care facilities to the poor people of the State.  Under the scheme, the families will be treated for identified diseases involving hospitalization, surgeries and therapies in private hospitals.

The State Government will bear the entire cost of the treatment of those Below Poverty Line (BPL) or belonging to poor families.

Stay tuned for further updates.
