Telangana witnessed heavy rainfall in the past two days and is expected to witness rain for the next few days.

Regions of Telangana like Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Gangadhara, Medak and Jagtial received heavy to moderate rainfall. 

In the past 24 hours, Gangadhara in Karimnagar district recorded the highest rainfall of 132 mm, followed by Kowdipally in Medak (121 mm) and Korutla in Jagtial (116 mm.)  Besides the aforementioned places, regions of Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Suryapet districts also registered heavy rainfall.   Due to the intense rainfall, two people of Telangana lost their lives.  Mr. Raghavender Nayee, 43 year old resident of Shanti Nagar, accidentally fell inside a nala at Jadcherla and drowned.  Another person named Mr. Kranthi Kumar, a 25 year old was washed away in Potti Marri vagu of Rajampet mandal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

Many people residing in low lying, isolated places of the State were rescued by teams of the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF.)  

On the 16th of October, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to moderate rainfall in the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.  The IMD issued a rainfall alert for the two Telugu states, urging the state governments and the residents to be cautious.  According to the weather departments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) due to the formation of a low pressure area over the East Central and South East Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep, heavy rainfall is predicted in the southern region of India, for the next few days. 

Besides an alert to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the IMD also issued an orange alert of rain to Kerala and Odisha. 

Meanwhile, due to the cyclonic pressure over the East Central and South East Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, rainfall is predicted on different days across India.  While rainfall is expected to continue in the southern region till the 17th of October, in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Bihar are expected on the 18th and the 19th of October.
