Telangana Minister Dismiss Rumours, Says No Plan To Close Cinema Theatres

On the 24th of March, the Telangana Minister for Cinematography, Talasani Srinivas Yadav clarified on closuren of cinema theatres.

A day after the decision of closure of schools and colleges, he addressed the media and said, the Telangana Government is not planning to close cinema houses.  He said, “The government has no plans to close the cinema theatres nor halt the shootings.”

Talasani Srinivas Yadav dismissed the rumours of cinema house closure and said, during the pandemic of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, film industry suffered huge losses.  Due to the imposed nationwide lockdown, film screening, production work, shooting and others were stopped for almost half a year.

Mr. Srinivas Yadav assured the support of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to the film industry and said, they could continue as allowed.  However, he asked the people of film industry and cinema to follow all the guidelines of the COVID-19 strictly, especially when cases are rising in the State.

Telangana is witnessing a massive rise in the single day spike of the Novel Coronavirus cases.  From the previous 100 cases, the State is reporting more than 300 cases on a regular basis.  With this, the State even crossed 3.60 lakh mark of positive cases in March.

In the wake of the rising cases, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, closed schools and colleges, intensified vaccination drive and urged people to follow all the COVID-19 protocols strictly.
