Telangana Municipal Elections – Counting Of Votes Begins

On the 25th of January, the results of the Municipal elections held for 120 municipalities and nine corporations would be announced and the counting of votes for the same began at 8:00 A.M.

Initially, the elections were held for 10 corporations, but due to some issues, the elections for the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation were cancelled and reelections would be held. 

Meanwhile, the Telangana Police deployed police personnel to avert any incident. 

The police personnel were deployed at Ellenki Engineering College, Ameenpur and six other centres where the counting of votes is taking place. 

Hanmath Rao, the District Collector of Sangareddy, on the 25th of January, inspected the arrangements made for the counting of votes. 

The counting of votes began at centres like Tara Degree College in Sangareddy, Government Junior College in Sadashivpet, Telangana Model School in Narayankhed, Government Junior College in Jogipet, Andhole, Telangana Model School in Bollaram and Zilla Parishad High School in Tellapur.

The major parties which contested the Municipal elections were the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)  There were 12,900 candidates in the fray.

Approximately 70.26 % voters performed their franchise. 

The results of the Telangana Municipal elections are scheduled to be announced by the end of the day.
