The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE,) on the 22nd of September, announced a 30% reduced syllabus for the intermediate course.

According to the TS BIE, for the academic year of 2020-2021, the syllabus for commerce and science stream has been reduced by 30 %.

The decision to do so was taken due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, which resulted in the closure of schools and educational institutions.

Since the 24th of March, schools, colleges and educational institutions are closed.

The TS BIE in regard to this even formed expert committees for subjects and based on the suggestions made by the committees, the Board announced the reduction in syllabus.

An official said, “The syllabus for all the streams was reduced by 30% as per the expert committee’s recommendations for both first and second year students. The committee has taken the time left this academic year and the pandemic into consideration.”

The decision was taken during a meeting on the 18th of September, but an official announcement was made on the 22nd of September.

While the syllabus for the science stream has been reduced on the lines of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and for other streams, the Board has removed topics and lessons which are not important by themselves.

Details of the removed syllabus is available at the official website of TS BIE, https://tsbie.cgg.gov.in.

Currently, the junior colleges and schools are  conducting online classes through Doordarshan and T-SAT Network channels.
