On the 29th of September, the Telangana Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule of Dubbaka by-elections.
After Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Dubbaka passed away, the MLA position fell vacant. Mr. Ramalinga Reddy died of cardiac arrest on the 6th of August at a private hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana.
In regard to this, amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 situation, the Telangana State Election Commission released notice for the Dubbaka by-polls.
According to the released notification, the election will be scheduled on the 3rd November, 2020.
While the last date for nominations is on 16th of October, the scrutiny of the nominations would be held on the 17th of October.
The last date for withdrawing the nominations is on the 19th October, 2020.
According to the media sources, Mr. Ramalingareddy’s wife Sujata is likely to get a ticket for the by-elections from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.) Another candidate which is expected to get the Dubbaka election ticket is the TRS leader Muthyam Reddy’s son Srinivas Reddy.
However, an official announcement of the candidate is yet to be made.
On the other hand, Raghunandan Reddy is expecting a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)
All the parties have kick started campaigning for the By-election as the election code of conduct has been imposed from today.
The by-election would be held on the 3rd of November and the results would be announced on the 10th of November.
