Telangana’s Warangal rural district reported a mysterious death case of 9 people hailing from West Bengal, Bihar and Tripura.

While 6 people were from one family who shifted to Telangana from West Bengal 20 years back, the other 3 deceased people hailed from Bihar and Tripura.  The police first recovered four bodies on the 21st of May from the well and the remaining 5 bodies the next day (22nd of May.)

The case came to light, after the owner of the gunny bag stitching unit, Mr. Santosh  reported a missing persons case of the migrants.   The family of 6 members  identified as Mohammed Maqsood, his wife Nisha, their daughter Busra and sons Shabaz, Sohail and a three year old son, whose name is yet to  be known.

The family was living in Karimabad village, but due to the lockdown, they requested Mr. Santosh to provide them a room at the workplace premises.

Three other migrants were  living in the next room to the family and believed to have food together a night before.

The police suspect the deaths to be a suicide case as there were no injuries on the bodies. V. Ravinder, the Commissioner of the Warangal Police Department, started an investigation.  The bodies of all the deceased migrants were sent to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for postmortem, following which the reason of death could be clear.  The police said, “We retrieved their bodies from the well and the CLUES teams and a dog squad were deployed to inspect the spot. But we did not find any injuries on the bodies.”

Meanwhile, the funeral of 3 migrant workers from Bihar and Tripura would be done according to the decision of the families of the deceased.  If the families of the three labourers wish to perform the funerals in their native villages, the State Government would make arrangements to send the bodies to Bihar and Tripura.  Errabelli Dayakar Rao, the Minister of Panchayat Raj of Telangana, would supervise the arrangements for sending the bodies back after the postmortem.

Mr. Rao also said the State Government would conduct the funeral of the 6 members of the dead family in Warangal.

The  Warangal police registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC,) and launched an investigation regarding the same.

Stay tuned for further updates.
