The Telangana Government is scheduled to conduct a special two day Assembly session on the 18th and 19th of July.
The Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will meet on the 18th and 19th of July to discuss the new Municipal Act.
K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 10th of July, conducted a review meeting regarding the same at the Pragathi Bhavan, Telangana.
The proposed Municipal Act will include the duties and responsibilities of the public representatives, including eradicating corruption and ensuring the best practices are employed for effective service delivery with the agenda of development of cities and towns in Telangana.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO,) the session will be dedicated to passing the new Municipal Bill, which will be introduced on the 18th of July. The MLAs will get a day to scrutinise it and come back with their discussions, following which, the bill will be passed on the 19th of July.
The CMO also said, the drafted Municipal Bill is finalised and was sent to the Law Department of Telangana for vetting.
After the bill is passed, the State will conduct the Municipal elections in the first week of August. However, the official dates of the Municipal elections are yet to come.
