Concerned about women’s safety in the State, the Telangana Police’s Women Safety Wing launched Public Safety Clubs in 5 colleges of Hyderabad.

On the 11th of February, the Telangana Women Safety Wing launched the pilot project to create awareness about public safety amongst citizens and women related to safety issues in Telangana.

The implementation of the ‘Volunteering Programme’ took place at Sri Vivekananda Institute of Engineering and Technology, Hyderabad.

Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to Telangana, was the chief guest at the event.

During the launch event, Swati Larka, the Inspector General of Police and Women’s Safety Wing Head, said the pilot project is being held to make Telangana a safer place.

The Telangana Women Safety Wing along with non government organisations (NGOs) like Save the Children and Lead Life started the project.  The Public Safety Clubs would work with youth and young female students to make them aware and train them about how to handle situations concerning safety.

The Telangana Women Safety Wing is soon going to launch more Public Safety Clubs, not only in Hyderabad but the entire State.

Stay tuned for further updates.
