A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) wrote a letter to the Telangana Chief Minister on the 26th of July.
In the letter, addressed to K. Chandrashekar Rao, the CM of Telangana, Revanth Reddy demanded a compensation of Rs. 15,000 per acre to the farmers, whose crops were damaged due to the ongoing heavy rain. He said, due to the rain in the State, many farmers suffered, especially in the low lying areas of the State.
Besides farmers, the TPCC Chief also asked compensation for rain affected families. He said that massive damage to crops like paddy, maize and others happened in several districts of the State.
Mr. Revanth Reddy said the matter and the compensation should have been given, but the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government did not start any financial relief measures.
Revanth Reddy in his letter stated, “You (CM) are willing to spend Rs. 3,000 crore in Huzurabad to ensure TRS’s win in the by-election at any cost. It is unfortunate that you have not announced even Rs. 1,000 crore support to the farmers for crop damages sustained in the rains.” He further criticised the KCR Government for not handling the recent rain situation in the State.
Revanth Reddy said, many rivers and water bodies at various places in the Telangana state were overflowing due to the continuous rains, waterlogged at various places and trees and street lamps uprooted, affecting residents.
