The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government announced their candidate, contesting the upcoming Huzurabad by election.
On the 11th of August, Wednesday, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana and President of the TRS, announced Mr. Gellu Srinivas Yadav as the Party candidate. With this, Mr. Srinivas Yadav would contest as the TRS Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate against the expected MLA candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) Mr. Eatala Rajender.
Although Mr. Eatala Rajender is the final MLA candidate representing the BJP in the Huzurabad by poll, an official announcement is awaited. After being moved from the Health Minister post, Eatala Rajender quit the TRS and resigned as the Huzurabad MLA. He also joined the opposition BJP and is now going to fight against the TRS, with which he has been since a long time.
Meanwhile, the TRS Member Gellu Srinivas Yadav is said to be one of the strong leaders of the TRS and the State President of the TRS Student’s Association.
According to sources, Gellu Srinivas Yadav was inspired by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao and has joined the TRS since it was launched in 2014. He also played a major role in the fight for the statehood of Telangana and went to jail quite a few times.
With this announcement, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to address a public meeting at Huzurabad Assembly Constituency. During the meeting, scheduled on the 16th of August, Monday, KCR would officially introduce Mr. Gellu Srinivas Yadav to the public.
It is to be noted, Gellu Srinivas Yadav is a member of the Backward Class (BC) community. The Huzurabad Assembly constituency has a total of 2.26 lakh voters, of which close to 1.20 lakh voters belong to the BC community.
In addition, the former MLA of Huzurabad Assembly constituency, Eatala Rajender, belonged to the Mudiraj community of the BC.
With this, the fight for the Huzurabad MLA seat is going to be a tough one between the TRS and the BJP. In addition, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) are also expected to be in the fray for the MLA post. While TRS announced its Huzurabad MLA candidate, the Indian National Congress and the BJP are yet to announce their contestants.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the official notification regarding the conduct of the Huzurabad Assembly election sometime soon.
